Get your Teens to study the Bible

Hello fellow youth leaders…

Have you, like me, had a problem getting kids to “find time” to read the Bible?

This should help shouldn’t it? I was in a staff meeting once and we were doing some time management stuff. The leader told us to make a list of all of the things we don’t really have time to do.  Some of the things that made the list were working out, more time with our wives and more time in the Word. Then he told us to go back and add the phrase “I don’t want to…” to the beginning of each thing on that list. It put things in perspective. We could all make excuses for why things weren’t getting done but in reality, they were excuses. We could have made time if we managed our time better. I didn’t seem to have time to go work out but I got my daily dose of whichever CSI was on that night.

Are we able to challenge students when they say they don’t have time to grow in their faith? What is it that keeps Christian students at large from truly digging in and learning about what it means to be lifelong Christ followers?

Take some time this week to ask a few students what keeps them from growing.
