Sticky Notes

Sticky Notes! Who doesn’t like them?!? One of the best uses for them is brainstorming sessions. The best way to use them is to post each question or topic on a wall and then give each person or group a pack of Sticky Notes. As they come up with answers to the questions, have them add their Note under the question or topic they’re referring to.

I got a group of students together, about 20 total and had them answer these questions to see a little more about what they want. I asked:

  • How do you live out your faith?
  • What about your faith excites you?
  • If you could have the ideal youth gathering from a Christian perspective, what would that look like?

Here’s their responses as we talked about what they put on their sticky notes which were now on the wall. This list comes straight from them. I am amazed how close it is to what I would want to see in my ideal youth gathering. These are not in any particular order.
1. Smaller, more intimate size
2. Food, snacks, meal
3. Build authentic relationships
4. Develop faith with other Christ followers
5. People who listen
6. Openness – able to share with others (struggles, hurts)
7. Everybody loves each other
8. Service
9. Prayer
10. Develop Christ-like attitude
11. Unselfish
12. Equality for everyone
13. Everyone participates
14. Christ honoring
15. Spread the Gospel

I’m beginning to realize that it’s not just youth who think this way. Isn’t this what we all seem to be desiring. I haven’t been able to put my finger on it but I think that a lot of adults who are not content with their current faith journey would impart something new and exciting into their lives if they lived this out with people close to them.
… now to figure out how to do this.
